Foremost Capital Limited has secured a BBB+ investment-grade rating from DataPro, marking a new milestone for the asset management firm as it expands its presence in Nigeria’s capital market. The rating carries a stable outlook and reflects assessments of the company’s liquidity, capitalisation, profitability, governance and ability to meet its financial obligations.
The development comes alongside rapid growth in Foremost Capital’s assets under management, which increased by 250% between July and December 2025. DataPro also highlighted improvements in the company's revenue generation, internal controls and risk-management framework as factors supporting the rating.
For Nigeria’s investment-management sector, the rating could strengthen Foremost Capital’s credibility with institutional clients and counterparties as it seeks to expand its market share. The company said it intends to use the stronger market standing to attract higher-value mandates and improve portfolio performance.
However, a BBB+ rating is not a guarantee of investment returns. It is an assessment of financial strength and creditworthiness, while the sharp increase in assets under management also needs to translate into sustainable earnings and continued risk discipline.
Investors should watch whether Foremost Capital can maintain its asset growth, improve profitability and attract larger institutional mandates as competition intensifies across Nigeria’s asset-management industry.
