NGX Fear & Greed Components
MOMENTUM
Market Momentum
NGX ASI 125-Day Moving Average
It's useful to look at how the market is performing compared to recent months. When the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) is above its average over the past 125 trading days, it signals strong upward momentum. But if it falls below that average, it suggests investors are becoming cautious.
STRENGTH
Stock Price Strength
Number of NGX Stocks Near 52-Week Highs
A few large stocks can dominate the market's performance, so it's helpful to see how most stocks are doing. This looks at how many stocks in the NGX All-Share Index are near their 52-week highs versus those near their 52-week lows. When many more stocks are hitting highs than lows, it's a bullish sign and points to Greed.
BREADTH
Market Breadth
Advance / Decline Volume (Smoothed)
The market has many stocks, and each day some go up while others go down. This measure counts how many stocks are rising versus falling. When more stocks are falling than rising, it signals weakness, and the Fear & Greed Index interprets this declining breadth as a sign of Fear.
VOLATILITY
Volatility Index
NGX All-Share Index Realized Volatility
Volatility shows how wildly the NGX All-Share Index moves up and down. Big swings signal uncertainty and Fear, while calmer markets usually indicate confidence. The Fear & Greed Index treats rising volatility as a sign of Fear.
