Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc has appointed BDO Professional Services as its new external auditor following resolutions passed at the company’s 21st Annual General Meeting held on August 21, according to its latest NGX filing. Shareholders also received the company’s 2025 audited accounts and approved the board’s authority to determine the auditor’s remuneration.
The governance change comes as Japaul continues to expand its mining and dredging operations. The company reported ₦2.70 billion in H1 2026 revenue and ₦795.18 million profit after tax, compared with ₦1.71 billion revenue a year earlier. It also raised ₦7.48 billion through a private placement during the period.
For investors, the auditor change is relevant because independent scrutiny of the company’s financial reporting becomes increasingly important as its operations and capital base expand. However, the appointment itself does not indicate that the previous auditor identified problems with Japaul’s accounts.
The company’s next major focus will be how it deploys the capital raised and whether stronger performance in its dredging business can be sustained. Investors should also monitor subsequent financial statements, production activity and any further capital-market transactions for evidence that Japaul can convert its recent expansion into durable earnings growth.
