PZ Cussons Nigeria Moves to Pay ₦9.93bn Dividend But Shareholders Get Another Choice

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has proposed a ₦9.93 billion final dividend for the financial year ended May 31, 2026, giving shareholders an opportunity to receive ₦2.50 for every ordinary share held, subject to approval at the company’s next Annual General Meeting.

The proposal was approved by the company’s Board at a special meeting held on August 27, 2026, with the resolution disclosed to the Nigerian Exchange on August 28.

Beyond the cash payout, PZ Cussons Nigeria is also recommending a scrip dividend option that would allow qualifying shareholders to elect to receive new ordinary shares in the company instead of all or part of their cash dividend entitlement.

The option could provide shareholders with greater flexibility between taking cash income and increasing their exposure to the company through additional shares, while potentially allowing PZ Cussons Nigeria to retain more cash within the business.

The proposed dividend follows the company’s financial year ended May 31, 2026, although the final payment remains subject to shareholder approval and the completion of the applicable corporate-action process.

Investors will now watch for the release of the audited financial statements, AGM approval and subsequent qualification and payment details. The terms and implementation of the proposed scrip option will also be important for shareholders assessing their preferred form of dividend income.
